The City of Mililani, Hawaii is located near the center of the island of O'ahu. Mililani sits on former plantation fields that were owned by Castle & Cooke, who started developing the area in the early 1960s. Castle & Cooke wanted Mililani Town to be the answer to Oahu's growing demand for housing while remaining affordable. In 1976, Interstate H-2 opened, cutting travel time from Mililani to Honolulu in half. Mililani is the third wealthiest zip code in Hawaii. Even though Mililani remains primarily a bedroom community, it has its own commercial centers, schools, parks, community centers and a golf course and resembles any modern American suburban town. Mililani homeowners pay dues to the local Mililani Town Association, who make sure the design standards are kept up to snuff and provides recreational facilities for the town, including local pools. As of the 2019 census, the population of Mililani was 27,562.
The Mililani Golf Club is a par 72, 6455 yard public golf course that opened in 1966. It has quickly become one of Hawaii's finest golf experiences. |
